Modern Wonder 4: Golden Gate Bridge

We've crossed the wonder midpoint into number 4, that's right, this is the Seven Modern Wonders - today is The Golden Gate Bridge:

Replacing the ferry, crossing the Golden Gate Strait, this orange vermilion suspension bridge finished completion in 1937 and is known around the world as the signature landmark of San Francisco. On average, 100'000 vehicles cross the 2.74 km (1.7 mile) bridge each day, serving as the only exit from the city to its north.

This is a great, and interesting, idea!

Here from Michele, hello!

Hi, Adrian! Thanks for visiting my blog. Neat idea for a blog, by the way.

I have seen that particular view a few times, since I grew up in California, but the pictures of the Channel Tunnel and such were interesting and I hadn't seen them before.

San Franciso is on my long list of places I must visit before too much time passes by. While there I intend to see that bridge and discover if it awes me even more in person.

I landed in San Francisco on my way to San Jose for a conference - I noticed how gorgeous everything appeared.

For those in Britain, it's like Iron Bridge, stretched out, painted bright orange, and with the contrast on your little TV turned up to nearly maximum (the sky, the bridge, the sea, everything).
