Recap: The People's Thursday

This day marks the conclusion of The People's Thursday, your pre-weekend proof that humanity is a alive and well:

Celebrate the diversity that is my inclusion of two Judaism-related photographs out of just twelve presented. I regretfully admit there is a side of myself disappointed that I didn't exhibit the vibrant range of emotions and backgrounds I aspired to.

I must thank the twelve artists for not insisting I immediately remove their work (of course that may hinge on their not knowing of me, for fameless obscurity is a friend of mine). Spare a thought for all us big-time dreamers lost in the small-town smog.

Question - do you inform/ask the permission of the artists/subjects?

I ask because I have just been asked to remove a photo from our 'real life' website that we had taken of our work on a job. Our client said that because they had signed an agreement with THEIR client, we weren't allowed to post the image, even though we'd accredited correctly, etc. etc.. We complied, because they were polite and cheery and we are good-natured chaps; but your post made me wonder.

Answer by email if you'd rather :).

Actually it is a difficult one - If their site is a blog I just go ahead and link. I feel that is part of the nature of a blog - share, but give credit.
If the image has come from a less public source I attempt to inform via a quick message.

Generally they reply, they've always been pleased thus-far (though that is bound to change one day alas).
